Winner – Chelsea In Bloom 2024 – Highly Commended

The world class alternative floral art show was back, transforming the streets of Chelsea from 20-26 May, with breathtaking displays made of fresh flowers.

Produced by Cadogan, in associated with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), the annual competition continues to grow year on year, with Chelsea’s best retailers, restaurants and hotels adorning themselves with creative designs, competing for the coveted awards. This year saw in excess of 110 entries.

NB Flowers are delighted to announce that having been winners in 2023, NB Flowers were once again “Winners of Chelsea In Bloom 2024 – Highly Commended” and had the pleasure to receive our award from Lord Cadogan at the Duke of York Square Cadogan offices.

The theme for the Chelsea in Bloom this year was “Floral Feasts”, and we dressed Birley Bakery in Cale Street.

We created a Buzz at Birley Bakery with “A Feast for the Bees”.

Flowers are a “Feast for the Bees” and our floral feast featured Birley Bees feasting on the flowers.

Our message was to highlight the importance of bees, show bee friendly flowers, to educate about honey bees, and promote environmental sustainability.

3 stunning honeycomb towers encased masses of English flowers from Stokesay Flower Garden – the flowers that provide the honey, rising from fantasy beehives. Small worker bees buzzed around the towers and beehives made from craspedia.

In the windows we hung Bee “crests” which featured a fantasy flower of dried flowers, with a characterful bee feeding on the pollen. The bee was meticulously made with dried grasses. At the top of the crest, a crown, inspired by the Queen Bee and her Royal Jelly was filled with magnificent bee friendly flower arrangements.

To top it all off, we created one giant bee, placed high on the awning of the shop, which was magnificent. The challenge with the bees was to make them look friendly as opposed to scary.

As a finishing touch, we hung “Bee Facts“ from the flowers – small luggage style tags with facts about bees, to educate people about importance of bees.

Chef Vincent Zanardi of Birley Bakery created a Honey Comb cake, which tasted simply delicious.
